Marrilyn loves her CentroGlide
Marrilyn R is a woman who loves life. She has muscular dystrophy, a condition that causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass, but she doesn’t let that stop her from being active, independent, and stylish. She has been using the CentroGlide Vertical Lift powered wheelchair for over three and a half years, and she couldn’t be happier with it.
“This chair is amazing. It has everything I need and more. The vertical lift helps me reach things in my house, like cabinets, shelves, and windows. The tilt lets me relax and nap comfortably, without putting pressure on my joints or spine. And the kerb climbing ability, speed, and durability allow me to go anywhere I want, whether it’s the park, the shops, or travel. I can do everything by myself, and that’s very important to me,” Marrilyn says with a smile.
Marrilyn recently moved to Perth from Melbourne and was delighted that she could finally come to visit us at our office and factory in Wangara. She enjoys weaving, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family. She is also very creative and resourceful. She has added various accessories to her wheelchair to suit her needs and preferences. She has a cup holder for her coffee or water, a phone holder for her calls and music, numerous bags for her essentials and shopping, a cushion for her comfort, and even a pink umbrella for sunny or rainy days. She also likes to coordinate her outfits with her wheelchair, matching the colours of her clothes, shoes, bags, and hair.
“I love bright colours, especially pink. They make me happy and confident. I always try to look classy and elegant, and I think my wheelchair reflects that. But it’s not just about style, it’s also about function. Everything I have on my wheelchair serves a purpose and makes my life easier,” she says.
Marrilyn is an inspiration to many people who use wheelchairs or have disabilities. She shows that with the right attitude and the right equipment, anything is possible. She is grateful for the CentroGlide Vertical Lift wheelchair, which has given her the freedom and flexibility to live her best life.
“I don’t see my wheelchair as a limitation, I see it as an opportunity. It’s part of who I am, and I’m proud of it. It’s not just a chair, it’s a lifestyle,” she says.
Marrilyn got the CentroGlide Vertical Lift wheelchair after trying out different models from other brands. She was frustrated with her previous electric chair, which was not powerful enough to fit her active lifestyle.
“I had an electric scooter before, but it was too slow and bulky. Then I had another wheelchair from a different company, but it was too weak and unreliable. It broke down often and needed frequent repairs,” she says.
She heard about the CentroGlide Vertical Lift wheelchair from a friend who also used it. She decided to give it a try and was impressed by its features and performance.
“As soon as I tried my chair, I knew it was the one for me. It was smooth, fast, and easy to control. It had all the functions I wanted and more. It was also very sturdy and well-made. It looked like it would last me for decades,” she says.
She customized her CentroGlide according to her preferences. She chose the pink colour for the frame and the seat cover, as well as the accessories she wanted.
She has been using her CentroGlide Vertical Lift wheelchair ever since and has never regretted her decision.
“It has changed my life for the better. It has given me more independence, mobility, comfort, and memories,” she says.
She hopes that her story will inspire other people who use wheelchairs or have disabilities to find their own CentroGlide Vertical Lift wheelchair that suits them best.
